Service Announcement: Update Wed 12th March

The Practice is pleased to announce that our plumbing maintenance is now complete, and the water supply has been fully restored. We extend our sincere gratitude to the plumbing team from LW

Our Clinics

We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases and offer a wide variety of medical services.

COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)

The practice actively encourages the regular review of all long term conditions at least annually.  We hold regular COPD clinics which are undertaken by our highly trained Practice Nurse, Arlene Earaker. During this review she will check symptoms and COPD control and give advice on appropriate treatments, as well as teaching inhaler techniques.

Each year we will send you a letter inviting you to make an appointment with Arlene for review and would encourage you to attend even if you feel your symptoms are well controlled.

Diabetes

The practice actively encourages the regular review of all long term conditions.  At least annually you will receive a letter inviting you to book an appointment at the Community Care & Treatment Service (CCATS) at Beechgrove House for routine bloods and relevant monitoring.  Dr Crichton and Annie Coorey, our Specialist Practice Nurse, will receive and review your results and we will only contact you, if required, to discuss any management changes of your diabetes, otherwise if all is satisfactory, we will invite you for review again the following year.

Annual Chronic Disease Review

The practice actively encourages the regular review of all long term conditions, as part of this we offer annual review for the following chronic diseases:

Hypertension, Coronary Heart Disease (CHD), Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Diabetes, Stroke & Hypothyroidism

At least annually you will receive a letter inviting you to book an appointment at the Community Care & Treatment Service (CCATS) at Beechgrove House for routine bloods and relevant monitoring.  Once you have attended this appointment, the practice will receive and review your results and will only contact you, if required, to discuss any management changes of your condition/s, otherwise if all is satisfactory, we will invite you for review again the following year.

Women’s Health

Cervical smears are carried out by our experienced Practice Nurses during normal consulting hours. Please contact our Reception Team to arrange an appointment.

Sexual Health

All GPs in the practice are able to offer a full range of family planning and sexual health advice to meet your needs. In addition to this we offer both IUCD (coil) and Nexplanon insertions and removals in practice.

Dr Crichton is fully trained in IUCD & Nexplanon insertion and removal and Dr Stein specialises in Nexplanon insertion and removal.

If you are considering one of these contraceptive options then in the first instance please make a telephone appointment to discuss further with:

  • GP for Coil
  • Practice Nurse for Nexplanon

Minor Surgery

We offer minor surgery and joint injection at the practice for a variety of different clinical problems and skin lesions. Initially you will need an appointment with any GP to confirm minor surgery is required and after this you will be contacted by the practice to book a minor surgery appointment.

Due to the demand there may be a waiting list depending on the expected length of the procedure. Please note we cannot remove lumps and bumps purely for cosmetic reasons on the NHS.
